Alpha-numeric console

An Alpha-numeric console is an interface with manual input keys with letters and numbers presumably in the user's native language on them to input commands into a computer or other processing device. The console is similar to that of a 21st century keyboard.

Lieutenant Barclay instructed the Enterprise-D's computer to create an alpha-numeric console for his right hand in the holodeck in an attempt to create a faster interface between the Enterprise and the Argus Array whose reactor was about to go critical. (TNG: "The Nth Degree")
