Bajoran War Orphans Fund

The Bajoran War Orphans Fund was a charitable organization established on the planet Bajor following the Cardassian withdrawal from that world and the end of the Occupation of Bajor. The fund was set up to provide for the needs of the countless young children (often referred to as war orphans), both Bajoran and Cardassian, who were left without parents in the aftermath of the Occupation.

The War Orphans Fund was a favorite charity of Kira Nerys and many other Bajorans.

In 2370 Quark organized a charity racquetball match between Miles O'Brien and Julian Bashir and claimed that the proceeds from wagering, minus a fee, would be donated to the War Orphans Fund. Similarly, an auction in 2373 donated its proceeds to the fund – proceeds that exceeded expectations when Dr. Giger bid 10 bars of latinum for an Andorian chest. (DS9: "Rivals", "In the Cards").

Rom donated his entire life savings to the fund that same year when he feared that his profits and life as a Ferengi might prevent his marriage to Leeta. Rom donated the money to Kira, who was so pleased that she actually gave him a kiss. (DS9: "Ferengi Love Songs")
