A chainsaw is a mechanical device used on Earth for cutting. Other planets also utilized such as a device, even for rituals.
Captain Jonathan Archer had to use a chainsaw to chop up the trunk of an alvera tree as part of a Kreetassan apologetic ritual in 2152. (ENT: "A Night in Sickbay")
- It is not known if the Kreetassans supplied the chainsaw or if the crew of Enterprise had one aboard, as Hoshi Sato was not sure if they had one available.
