Charles Maxwell

Charles Maxwell (28 December 1913 – 7 August 1993; age 79) was the actor who played Virgil Earp in the Star Trek episode "Spectre of the Gun".
He made many appearances on the television Westerns Bonanza and Gunsmoke as was the voice of the radio broadcaster throughout the entire run of Gilligan's Island. He also had a role on the short-lived western series The Nine Lives of Elfego Baca, as were fellow Star Trek alumnus Skip Homeier, Clegg Hoyt, Brian Keith, William Schallert, Kenneth Tobey, and TOS star DeForest Kelley.
He also appeared in such films as The Search for Bridey Murphy (1956, with Kenneth Tobey), The Power of the Resurrection (1958, with Richard Kiley and Vic Tayback), and Brainstorm (1965, with Jeffrey Hunter, Phillip Pine, Joan Swift, Biff Elliot, Steve Ihnat, and Bill Quinn).
