Dessica II is a Class M planet, once home to an ancient Romulan outpost. One of the archaeological sites with remnants of this Romulan presence are the ruins of Nafir.
In 2370, Dessica II was governed by a heavily-corrupted government. The same year Captain Jean-Luc Picard was kidnapped from a bar on Dessica II by a group of mercenaries working under Arctus Baran. (TNG: "Gambit, Part I")
