Actor Ed Bishop (11 June 1932 – 8 June 2005; age 72) lent his voice to several episodes of Star Trek: The Animated Series, most notably "The Magicks of Megas-Tu" as Asmodeus.
Bishop is best known for his starring role as Commander Ed Straker on the British science fiction series UFO. He also appeared in the 1968 sci-fi classic 2001: A Space Odyssey, starring TOS guest star Gary Lockwood.
Bishop died of a virus in 2005, just five days after his UFO co-star Michael Billington.
