A field regulator is a component of a Borg transwarp coil.
In 2375, the USS Voyager recovered a transwarp coil from the debris of a Borg probe. However, the field regulator had fused as part of the coil's self-destruct, rendering it inoperative. (VOY: "Dark Frontier")
