Film Illusions, Inc. is an effects studio specializing in special make-up effects, animatronics, and custom prop design and fabrication. It is owned and operated by effects supervisor Richard Shinkle. A team from this company, which included Dan Crawley, did some technical work on 2009's Star Trek.
Film Illusions has provided services on several films since 2001. The studio's first film project was the post-apocalyptic fantasy thriller Reign of Fire, which starred DS9 regular Alexander Siddig. Film Illusions' subsequent credits include Daredevil (featuring Erick Avari and Leland Orser), The Chronicles of Riddick (starring Karl Urban), Superman Returns (directed by Bryan Singer), the Fantastic Four films, and the upcoming G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra (starring Rachel Nichols).
