Flintlock weapons are a primitive form of projectile weapons.

The Klingons and the Federation supplied flintlocks to opposing groups of inhabitants of the planet Neural. (TOS: "A Private Little War")

By the late 24th century, flintlocks were hardly considered a weapon, the phaser having far greater accuracy and range. (TNG: "Hide and Q")
