Frank Kelly Freas (27 August 1922 – 2 January 2005; age 82) was a pre-production illustrator for the aborted series Star Trek: Phase II. He also contributed an illustration to DC Comics' series of Star Trek Annuals, the cover painting to 1992's TOS volume 2 Annual #3, "Homeworld".
Freas was commissioned by the first national Star Trek convention to create paintings for the event's program book, those seven paintings (of Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Scotty, Sulu, Uhura and Chekov) have since been hung in the Smithsonian Institution.
