Commander Keiran MacDuff claimed to have been born there on September 27th, 2334. (TNG: "Conundrum")

Gamma Canaris N appeared on a star chart in "Conspiracy" (behind Dexter Remmick when he was killed). The chart suggests that the planet was attributed somehow to the Federation (likely territory or explored space) as it was within an outlined block. It seems to be near the Tholian Assembly, Berengaria, and Janus VI on the chart.

The planet's name was a tip-of-the-hat to the Companion's homeworld seen in TOS: "Metamorphosis"," although this planet was not named on screen and may or may not be Gamma Canaris N.
