Genome colony

Genome colony was a self-contained colony of Humans. It was founded around 2168 on the planet Moab IV. The colony built an sealed biosphere in which they tried to create a perfect, engineered society in which every colonist was designed for a specific purpose. In 2368, the colony was almost destroyed by a stellar core fragment. With assistance from the USS Enterprise-D, the biosphere was rebuilt to withstand the fragment. This was opposed by colony member Martin Benbeck, who was afraid of outsiders. His fears were realized when 23 members of the colony left with the Enterprise and created significant gaps in the genetic makeup of the colony. (TNG: "The Masterpiece Society")
