Klingon mummification glyph
From Memory Alpha, the free Star Trek reference.
A Klingon mummification glyph is a form of carved pictograph writing used by the Klingon during their early history.
During Spock's memory test in 2286, he was asked to identify a particular mummification glyph, which happened to be from the earliest part of the Zanxthkolt Dynasty. (Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home)
- This reference seems to indicate that Klingons valued the bodies of their dead at one point, which contradicts the line stated by Korris and K'Nera, in "Heart of Glory" (TNG); after death, the Klingon body is but an 'empty shell'. However DS9: "The Ship" introduced the concept of ak'voh, illustrating some Klingons thought the deceased body was important.
Some entrepreneurs on Maranga IV claim to have Molor's mummified head on display for a fee of 50 darseks per person. (TNG: "Firstborn")
- This might mean that the Klingons kept the remains of important individuals while the standard warriors bodies were disposed off the most efficient and best way possible.
