Kzin

The planet Kzin is the homeworld of the Kzinti species and might once have been part of the Slaver Empire.

Kzin was mentioned as a small note on a very large star chart graphic created for TNG: "Conspiracy". It was the image behind the chair in the room where Dexter Remmick was killed. It appeared to be in or near Federation space at the time.

It remains unclear what class Kzin belongs to or which quadrant it lies in. However, since Earth fought a war against the Kzinti in a very early stage of space exploration, Kzin might be relatively close to the Sol system.

In Larry Niven's Known Space Universe the central star of the Kzinti's homeworld is identified as 61 Ursae Majoris which – according to background information in "In a Mirror, Darkly, Part II" – bears the name Archer in Star Trek and thus conflicts with the original source. But this could also mean the star was named after Archer after the Federation won the war with the Kzinti
