Captain Lopez was a notable Starfleet officer during the 24th century.

Lopez was one of many future captains advised by Boothby, Starfleet Academy's grounds keeper. Valerie Archer noted to Chakotay that "half the captains in Starfleet wouldn't be where they are today if it weren't for Boothby," including Lopez. (VOY: "In the Flesh")
