Magnolia

The magnolia is a distinctive evergreen tree with large, showy, fragrant flowers. The southern magnolia is the State Flower of Mississippi and Louisiana, and itself a Southern tradition.
Dr. Leonard McCoy when influenced by the signal emitted by the probe on Taurus II, experienced an audio-visual suggestion of magnolias in blossom. (TAS: "The Lorelei Signal")
