Michael Dorn
Date of birth: 9 December 1952
Place of birth: Luling, Texas, USA
Roles: Performer, Director
Character(s): Worf (Primary character; see Additional Characters)

Michael Dorn (born 9 December 1952; age 55) portrayed Worf on The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine and four Star Trek films. He also portrayed Worf's namesake, Colonel Worf, who defended Captain Kirk and Dr. McCoy during the trial for their alleged involvement in the assassination of Chancellor Gorkon in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. The intention was for this character to be the grandfather of the later Worf, but this was never confirmed on screen.

Dorn has appeared more times as a regular cast member than any other actor of the Trek franchises, spanning five movies and two television series (with 277 episodic appearances). He also hosted a television series entitled World of Wonder.

Dorn was later a member of The Sunspots, along with Jonathan Frakes, Patrick Stewart and LeVar Burton. They appeared as the background vocals for "It's a Sin to Tell a Lie" on Brent Spiner's 1991 album "Ol' Yellow Eyes is Back".

Dorn is left-handed just like his TNG co-stars, Brent Spiner and Wil Wheaton.

An accomplished pilot, Dorn owns and operates an old Air Force T-33 trainer jet, one of the first jet aircraft in the US inventory; it is often referred to as his "starship." He also maintains an old F-86 Sabre jet that he acquired from the South African Air Force. He has flown with the Blue Angels and the Thunderbirds, the USAF Precision Flight team.

His favorite episodes of TNG are "The Drumhead" and "The Offspring". [1]

As the legend goes, Dorn – a well known Trekkie – got the role of Worf not only because of his acting abilities, but also because he came to his audition fully dressed as a Klingon.
