Monroe

Lieutenant Junior Grade Monroe was a Starfleet officer serving aboard the USS Enterprise-D in 2368.

She was assigned to the conn and was in command of the bridge when the Enterprise struck a series of quantum filaments in 2368. Monroe was killed when the conn station exploded, forcing Deanna Troi to take command. (TNG: "Disaster")

Background

Monroe was portrayed by Jana Marie Hupp. Even though Miles O'Brien referred to her as "Lieutenant Monroe," she wore the rank pips of a Lieutenant junior grade, and the script identifies her as "Lieutenant Monroe," Hupp was credited as "Ensign Monroe." At different times the script indicates that the character of Monroe is male and female. Hupp played an altogether different character, Ensign Pavlik, in TNG: "Galaxy's Child".
