Phaser bore

Phaser bore is a 23rd century Starfleet tool, which utilizes a type of cutter beam, to bore through up to 20 meters of rock per minute.

Captain Kirk requested a phaser bore in his rescue attempt of Lieutenant Uhura from the Shore Leave Planet in 2269. The planet, however, erected an electronic shield preventing transport of the device to the surface. (TAS: "Once Upon a Planet")

During the 24th century, a phaser drilling tool was used to drill a tunnel through several meters of rock in seconds. (VOY: "Once Upon a Time")
