Pyrellian ginger tea is a relatively expensive beverage not available to the less fortunate, such as the Bajoran people during the Occupation.

While aboard Terok Nor, Kira Nerys discovered that a man named Vaatrik had managed to get ahold of Pyrellian ginger tea. As she liked the beverage, she took him up when he offered her some, and the two became friends. While Vaatrik may have desired Kira sexually, however, the feeling was not mutual; she later killed him for being a collaborator. (DS9: "Necessary Evil")
