Rob Burman

Robert "Rob" Burman is a makeup artist specializing in special effects makeup on Hollywood films and television programs.
He applied makeup effects for the films Star Trek III: The Search for Spock and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, working with his brother, Barney Burman. In addition, Burman and his wife and business partner, Jennifer E. McManus, worked on Star Trek: Insurrection. He returned to the franchise as part of his brother's Proteus Make-up FX Team on the upcoming Star Trek, produced and directed by J.J. Abrams. Burman is serving as the team's mold shop supervisor.
Burman began as a makeup assistant on such films as Cat People, starring Ed Begley, Jr., John Larroquette and Malcolm McDowell. He later became a makeup effects or creature effects artist on such films as The Thing (1982), Ghostbusters (1984), and The Fly (1986), Termors (1990) and Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991). He was nominated for a Saturn Award for his work on Super Mario Bros., the 1993 film based on the popular Nintendo video game.
In 1994, Burman and his wife team up to form the makeup studio Sticks & Stones FX. Together, they created makeup effects, costumes, puppets and props for such films as The Shadow (1994), Guyver: Dark Hero (1994), Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie (1995), Waterworld (1995), and Flubber (1997).
Outside of Star Trek, Burman has worked with his brother, Barney, on such films as Brain Dead (1990) and Jackass: The Movie (2002). Together, they own Burman Industries, founded in 1989 by their mother, Sandra. Barney and Rob Burman are the cousins of veteran Emmy Award-winning Trek makeup artist Ellis Burman, Jr.
Rob Burman recently shifted his interests from makeup effects to sculpting. He has created his own sculpting studio, aptly named the Rob Burman Sculpture Studio.
