Starship Duel II
From Memory Alpha, the free Star Trek reference
| This article is written from the Real World point of view |
Starship Duel II is one of four Star Trek mini-games created by FASA in 1984. It came out in conjunction with the release of Star Trek III: The Search for Spock.
It allows you to command either the USS Reliant from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, or a Klingon L-9 Frigate (a unique FASA-designed Klingon ship, similar to the D7 class cruiser).
Although the box back specifies play for two players, the rules include options for solitaire play as well. It is compatible with the Starship Duel I game for combined play. Presumably, more Starship Duel games were planned, but never produced.
[edit] Game Description
From Game Book and Box Back
- You are in command of the Reliant. She is on a mission to the fringes of the Federation space, taking scientific measurements of a great nebular cloud. A Klingon L-9 Class Frigate, on a search and destroy mission, sees the lone Federation vessel, and closes for the kill.
- Power to shields! Power to weapons! Full alert! Your intelligence and skill are about to be tested to the limit, Captain!
- The Starship Duel series by FASA uses a unique and fascinating movement system governed by the Starship Navigation Wheel. Players plot their moves on their wheels then check to see in which view-port the enemy is located. If you were able to outguess your opponent, FIRE!!! Each game includes 2 Starship Navigation Wheels, 2 Statistic cards, 75 counters, 2 dice and the rulebook. All Starship Duel games are interchangable with each other and may be combined for even more fun. A game for 2 players ages 12 and up.
