Synaptic transceiver

The synaptic transceiver and neural interface system was a concept invented by the Doctor aboard the USS Voyager in an alternate timeline, as an advantage to help the ship on its journey. The concept was to allow Captain Kathryn Janeway to control a shuttle in a telepathic fashion.

The shuttlecraft SC-4 was such a vessel equipped with the transceiver system. The transceiver resembled a metal rod, reaching round from the back of the pilot's chair to the front of the forehead. A light would shine onto the operator's head when in use, apparently as part of the communication system with a microchip inserted into the brain of the user. The system was seen and used in the "normal" timeline by Admiral Janeway (from the alternate timeline) when she attempted to buy Voyager time to enter the transwarp hub and head for home.
