Tactile interface
From Memory Alpha, the free Star Trek reference
The tactile interface is a feature of 24th century LCARS panels, which alters the normally flat panels (intended to be read) so that beings with poor eyesight or were blind could still use the consoles. A Starfleet officer could activate it by telling the computer to "activate the tactile interface."
In an alternate timeline, in 2374, Lieutenant Commander Tuvok was blinded by a detonating chroniton torpedo. As a result, he had to use the tactile interface to use the tactical station of the bridge. (VOY: "Year of Hell, Part II")
- As we only heard the command, we can't be sure exactly how the "tactile interface" works. Many assume Braille-like grooves may be involved.
