Talk:Five-year mission
From Memory Alpha, the free Star Trek reference.
Tell me, where is the proof of a Pike Five Year mission???? Sure he had command of the Enterprise for over 11 years, but it does not follow that he had to be assigned to a 5 year mission. He could have been on normal duties which include exploration and patrols. The Only evidence of a Five year mission is "Corbomite Maneuver" and beyond. --TOSrules 21:52, 27 Aug 2004 (CEST)
- The term "five-year mission" was used in the TOS writer's bible "introduction" written by Gene Roddenberry. Different revisions placed five-year mission assignments for April, Pike, and Kirk. -- Captain Mike K. Bartel 00:54, 28 Aug 2004 (CEST)
I do not think things like the Writers Bible should have anything to do with canon. As you note "Different Versions" which version shall we accept????. The only way a Writers Bible should be considered Cannon, is if the fact of it has been set up onscreen, like the operation of a particular device seen on screen. Currently there is no onscreen proof of any Five Year missions beyond Kirk's Five Year Mission. --TOSrules 01:02, 28 Aug 2004 (CEST)
There is also no evidence of characters having to go to the bathroom since there is no onscreen proof.
