• After the engineering mission briefing where Wesley suggests checking the flow capacitor of the malfunctioning anti-grav unit, Barclay goes to the holodeck for a therapy session with holo-Troi and tells her that he already "knew about the flux capacitor". This is a (possibly accidental) reference to the Back To The Future movies.
• Barclay's holodeck fantasies are similar to the Mary Sue genre of fan fiction.
