Definitely needs references to the Ferengi privateers in the 24th century (i.e. TNG: "Rascals"). Also not sure what relevance the Early history section has, unless it was somehow mentioned in Trek. - Intricated ^{talk page} 14:30, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

Removed the following:

In the 17th century on Earth, piracy became popular in the Caribbean region on the high seas. Pirates would attack merchant ships and steal its cargo, usually gold, silver or salted fish. They would also take hostages, particularly females, as slaves and kill the rest of the crew.

as it was not cited and I don't recall where in Trek this was mentioned. It should be restored if a citation can be found.--31dot 20:09, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
