Talk:Roses from the South

From Memory Alpha, the free Star Trek reference

Jump to: navigation, search

Actually, I researched the topic elsewhere. If there's any similarity to Wikipedia, then it is Wikipedia with copyright issues. Gee, I think we had this conversation before, on LSD. If a Wikipedia contributor cannot write an original article, that's not my problem. But, I try to remain faithful to the subject anyway, and do my best to keep it within the M/A rules.--Mike Nobody 09:38, 1 Dec 2005 (UTC)

[edit] What the Hell is your problem?

  • "Roses from the South" is about as original as I can make it and still be truthful. If you want me to make stuff up completely, with no regard to accuracy, then you're at the wrong site. Fanfiction is elsewhere. I hate to burst your bubble, but the "real world" intrudes into the Star Trek universe occasionally and I can't change that.--Mike Nobody 05:53, 1 Dec 2005 (UTC)
Now, I'm not trying to fan the flames here, but, dude... breathe, my man. Seriously. First, you did copy the info directly from Wikipedia, which is a major no-no, regardless of whether the article you copied from was copied from somewhere else, as you explained [above]. Secondly, as you can see [in the current version], all you had to do was remove the irrelevant non-Trek info (which is what I removed) and reword the remaining paragraphs (as I did, somewhat, with the opening paragraph and as you did with the last paragraph). Memory Alpha is all about original articles with relevant (Trek-related) information. Complaining to/"yelling" at an admin isn't going to change the fact that you ignored that fact. It is true that the real world sometimes intrudes into the Star Trek universe... but only when we see/hear that it does on-screen. We heard the tune beign played in an episode -- all that should be written is what tune it is, who wrote it, and where/when in Star Trek it was used. Everything else that was in the article was not discussed in the Trek universe, and therefore does not belong. So, as mean as it sounds, please don't complain to others about your inability to follow MA policy. Also, please don't continue copying/pasting and then arguing, as this will only get you blocked. You have made some good contributions, and we would like to have you stay. So calm down and just try to follow policy from now on, okay? --From Andoria with Love 11:57, 1 Dec 2005 (UTC)
