Talk:Soccer

From Memory Alpha, the free Star Trek reference

As far as I know, MA English uses the American way of spelling things. Since in "Fusion" they call American Football "Football", and in "Let He Who Is Without Sin..." they call Soccer/British Football "Soccer", wouldn't it be easier to have one page "Soccer" and the other "Football", with links to each other at the top of coarse. - AJHalliwell 01:11, 2 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Of course. I think this is a good idea. -- Captain Mike K. Barteltalk 01:12, 2 Aug 2005 (UTC)
If this is followed through with, I believe I made a handful of links to [[American football]] that could be changed. If I get a chance later tonight I can make the above mentioned moves. --Alan del Beccio 05:04, 2 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Done. Pages moved and all links corrected and linked to the appropriated articles. --Alan del Beccio 05:51, 2 Aug 2005 (UTC)
I'm going to ask for this to be undone. "Football" should always refer to the English game of Association Football. The American sport should be refered to as "American Football". Association Football was invented long before the American version. There should be articles entitled Associaton Football (to which Soccer is redirected) and American Football, and a disambiguation page for Football linking to both. People might think that this is a silly issue, but it's very important to British football fans. Alex Peckover 19:22, 3 Aug 2005 (UTC)
