This page should be renamed NCC-585 after the NCC-1700 precedent. A USS Hermes was never mentioned in the ST1 dialogue. --Pseudohuman 23:56, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

Should this be here? The name "Hermes" was never mentioned in TMP and all the info in this article comes from the technical manual not from on-screen references. -- TrekFan ^Talk 14:54, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

I think it's fine here. The canon policy allows us to use background stuff (in this case, the manual was used for the production) for the purposes of naming articles, and I like USS Hermes better than "Unnamed Class I Scout." :) --From Andoria with Love 10:58, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

Also, according to this article, the Hermes was mentioned in TMP, in dialog overheard in the background. Both name and registry apparently can be heard. --OuroborosCobra ^talk 15:17, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
