Talk:Valeris
From Memory Alpha, the free Star Trek reference
While Valeris is referred to as a lieutenant throughout Star Trek VI, she's actually wearing the rank insignia of a lieutenant commander... so, um, which is correct for the sake of canon? Ekedolphin 01:43, 2 Oct 2005 (UTC)
- I dunno. Chakotay has a similar situation, always called "Commander," but wearing the ranks of a provisional lieutenant-commander. However, Chakotay's would be acceptable, this one would not. -Platypus Man | Talk 01:55, 2 Oct 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Uniform Inconsistencies - How's that for an Oxymoron?
By the time ST:VI was made the scheme for the uniforms was not being followed. She's also wearing a red "trainee" undershirt for the whole film. I can't rationalize it, and I'd guess the only reason is because it looked good on Kristy Allie in ST:II. As for the badges, IIRC up until that time we had never offically seen a full Lt. or an Lt. Commander badge. They picked one of several previously unseen fan made designs for the costume and they picked the "wrong" one. --GreatBear 06:51, 1 Jan 2006 (UTC)
Gene Roddenberry did state that there were elements of this film which he did not consider canon. Perhaps this is one of them. Solution: Have a handful of true fans on the set for continuity control.
