Temecklian virus was a contageous disease known to have outbreaks on Bajor.

In 2372, Constable Odo used an outbreak of Temecklian virus on Bajor as an excuse to conduct a Class 2 inspection of Kasidy Yates' freighter, the Xhosa, when she was suspected of being a Maquis smuggler. Yates protested saying that none of her cargo came from Bajor and convinced Captain Sisko to let her leave without the inspection by promising to flood her entire cargo hold with baryon radiation as a precaution.
