- Set following Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, it ties in events from the movie with established comic continuity and characters. It does, however, contradict later events in canon.
- It was originally released across eight issues (#9-16) from December 1984 to July 1985, with the umbrella title of "New Frontiers":
- A graphic novel, collecting all eight issues, was released titled "The Mirror Universe Saga" in April 1991.
