• Set following Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, it ties in events from the movie with established comic continuity and characters. It does, however, contradict later events in canon.
• It was originally released across eight issues (#9-16) from December 1984 to July 1985, with the umbrella title of "New Frontiers":
  • "Promises to Keep"
  • "Double Image"
  • "Deadly Reflection!"
  • "The Tantalus Trap!"
  • "Masquerade!"
  • "Behind Enemy Lines!"
  • "The Beginning of the End..."
  • "Homecoming..."
• A graphic novel, collecting all eight issues, was released titled "The Mirror Universe Saga" in April 1991.
• It is widely regarded as the greatest story arc of the various comic series.
