Tholian silk

Tholian silk is a rare and prized cloth, produced by the xenophobic Tholians.

Benjamin Sisko managed to obtain Tholian silk for Kasidy Yates in 2372. In order to acquire the silk, Sisko had to call in a favor from a Tholian ambassador. (DS9: "The Way of the Warrior")

Given the extreme heat of the Tholians' natural environment, it may be speculated that Tholian silk is a highly resilient fabric, which could account for it being so valued. It is unknown if the silk is produced by the Tholians themselves; if they do naturally spin webs it may help to explain the design of their spacecraft.
