USS Proxima

The USS Proxima was a Federation starship that was in service during the late 24th century.

In the early 2370s the Proxima was on a exploration mission in the Gamma Quadrant. The ship disappeared sometime prior to 2373 and was presumed to have been destroyed by the Dominion. (DS9: "In Purgatory's Shadow")

According to the Star Trek Encyclopedia, the Proxima was a Nebula-class starship with the registry NCC-61952.

Named after Proxima Centauri, which is the nearest star from the Sol system. Proxima is Latin for "nearest".

The Proxima-class starship is seen in the video game Star Trek: Legacy.
