Valt and his brother Krios were the rulers of the vast Kriosian empire, which they ruled from the ancient Temple of Akadar.

They two would become divided over the love for a woman, an empathic metamorph, named as Garuth. They both loved Garuth with such passion that the Kriosian empire fell, causing a war spanning several centuries. (TNG: "The Perfect Mate")
