Volnoth

Volnoth was an elderly Gatherer and a member of the clan Lornak.

During negotiations on Gamma Hromi II in 2366, Volnoth suddenly and unexpectantly died. A later investigation by the crew of the USS Enterprise revealed that he was killed by Yuta, a member of the clan Tralesta, in vengeance for the Lornaks' massacre in 2286. Yuta was able to secretly murder him by touch, transmitting a virus that was lethal to anyone carrying Lornak DNA. (TNG: "The Vengeance Factor")

Volnoth was played by Marc Lawrence.

In the ending credits, the character's name is misspelled "Volnath."

Part of actor Marc Lawrence's costume was an actual, original Romulan tunic from TOS. During the 1990s, the Smithsonian Institution publicly displayed an array of Star Trek costumes, one of which was Volnoth's tunic.
