Warp 10

From Memory Alpha, the free Star Trek reference.

Jump to: navigation, search

Warp 10 was a high warp factor. Warp 10 is so "fast" that an object traveling at that speed is technically occupying all places in the universe at the same time.

In theory, it is possible to travel backwards in time by surpassing warp 10. (TNG: "Time Squared")

Sometime prior to 2372, the warp scale was recalibrated. Warp 10 became the transwarp threshold, representing infinite velocity. (VOY: "Threshold")

In a joke made by Chakotay in 2376, rumors travel at "warp 10" aboard the USS Voyager. (VOY: "The Voyager Conspiracy")

[edit] Notable uses

In 2267, upon hearing that the Enterprise was exceeding warp 10, Montgomery Scott was in disbelief and stated that that would be impossible. (TOS: "The Changeling")

Later that year, an Orion scoutship attacked the Enterprise at approximately warp 10, prompting Spock to remark that it was "interesting." (TOS: "Journey to Babel")

Bele, upon commandeering the Enterprise, propelled the ship faster than warp 10. (TOS: "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield")

In 2364, due to the Traveler's modifications, the USS Enterprise-D surpassed warp 10 and the velocity went off of the warp scale. (TNG: "Where No One Has Gone Before")

In 2372, Lieutenant Tom Paris of the USS Voyager became the first person to break the transwarp threshold of warp 10 aboard the shuttlecraft Cochrane. (VOY: "Threshold")

[edit] Background information

In the script for "Sons and Daughters", Alexander Rozhenko's adrenalin is described as "pumping at warp ten."
